Birth: Create Your Beginning

Third week of January…  The New Year is getting old already.  How many people have given up on their resolutions by now?  Is it really too late to start fresh?  I guess I’ll have to wait until next year to quit smoking/lose weight/save more money/fill in the blank…

Often we convince ourselves that there needs to be some special occasion or significant event on the calendar in order to begin a project or make a change, but “too late” is an illusion.  While time itself is very real, the clock and the calendar are artificial constructs.  We don’t have to allow them to become an excuse for putting off action toward our growth.  We can choose not to allow them to become obstacles to our progress, and achievement.  We have the ability – perhaps the responsibility – to choose to begin the journey toward fulfillment now.  If I am dissatisfied, if I am desirous of change, I have choices today.

Whether you find yourself gliding smoothly through your life or you have reached a period of struggle, whether you are focused on big dreams or small goals, the very fact that you are alive affords you an opportunity to make your life more of what you want it to be.  There is artistry in this journey of Living.  Why put off taking the first step toward designing your life to be a masterpiece that brings you joy, just because the calendar tells you the year isn’t “new” anymore?

The truth is that each day – each moment – brings with it the opportunity for you to create your life anew.  Beginning right now, what will you create for yourself?
