Dear Me, I Love You

Dear Me,

As I sit down to write this letter to you, I reflect on how far you’ve come in your life. From a child who only knows of love as painful and prideful to a woman that is so full of love that is heartfelt and resilient. You are forever working on how you love yourself and others.

You have been through so much in your life, yet you always manage to see the brighter side of life, learning from your past and trying hard not to make the same mistakes. You have been through tornados and hurricanes of emotions and have come out stronger in the end. You continue to find beauty and joy in life’s little moments and good in even the toughest situation.

Your heart overflows with love and compassion with others, you are always giving yourself to the betterment of others. Your kindness and generosity is truly a gift to those around you. You are a beacon of light in the world and your love has the power to change others.

Your laugh makes people smile and joyous, much like your mothers, you can bring laughter to a room that is contagious to everyone. Your essence lights up the room and warms the hearts of those around you, your truth helps others understand the beauty of love.

You are kind and thoughtful, always thinking of the ones you love, your family and friends. It’s now time to think about yourself. Take a moment to appreciate and honor everything that you are; strong, beautiful, resilient, full of love and joy.

Promise that you will always be kind and gentle with yourself. Honor your desires, and always treat yourself with the love and respect that you deserve. You are worthy of my love and happiness. I commit to you to find both love and happiness in your life.

Dearest self, I want you to know you are loved, cherished and very much appreciated. You are a gift to this world and I am so grateful to have you in my life.

Know that I love you,

~Candice C Carver

Thank you for your letter. It gives me the authority and the personal permission to treat myself with the same authenticity and love that guides my interactions with others without the ego and hubris that usually accompanies such statements. This is liberating.
