It is entirely possible that circumstances in your life have left you weary and wandering. The baggage that you have been carrying has grown ever heavier, and it may feel as though it is weighing you down and preventing you from taking even one more step forward. The future that is waiting for you will have to wait, won’t it? Because you just can’t seem to get moving this morning. You have lost a love, or a loved one, or a job, or a home, or hope… It is entirely possible that everything ends here. But…
It is entirely possible that there is someone standing patiently by, ready to carry that burden for you. There is strength within you that you hadn’t realized you still possessed. There is a smile behind the tears that flow down your face, and it is entirely possible that you may let it reassure you. It is entirely possible that today you will hear the voice that whispers, “I’ve got your back. You’ve got this.” And that you will believe it.
Love after Love
The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
It is entirely possible that you will Love yourself today, perhaps for the first time in a long time, and that the beauty you see in the mirror will be recognizable to you as your Self. And your eyes will again be opened to all of the possibilities.
