What Would the Dodo Say?

In twilight’s haze, I stand alone,

A specter of a world long gone.

Once roamed free with feathers bright,

Now lost to shadows in the night.

Oh, humans, heed my silent plea,

In your hands, lies Earth’s decree.

For I, the Dodo, lost to time,

A cautionary tale in rhyme.

We danced along with nature’s song,

In harmony, we did belong.

But greed and folly marked our fate,

Sealed our end, began Earth’s debate.

You see, we Dodos knew too well,

The dance of life, the fragile spell.

Each creature, great and small alike,

In our web of life, we all survive.

For every wing that takes to flight,

And every creature in the night,

We’re threads within a tapestry,

Bound by Earth’s vast symphony.

Yet you, in your relentless quest,

Have put this harmony to test.

You’ve severed ties, disrupted flow,

Unraveled what we used to know.

But hear me now, from realms unknown,

Where echoes of the past are sown.

In our demise, a lesson shows,

Of interdependence, hopes, and dreams.

For Earth is but a living sphere,

Where every life is held dear.

So cherish all, both near and far,

Embrace the bonds or what we are.

For in this dance of life, we find,

Our fates are woven, intertwined.

Let not another echo fade,

For Earth’s embrace, let’s serenade.

So heed my words, as shadows fall,

And hear the Dodo’s haunting call.

For in our silence, truth resides,

In interdependence, hope abides.
