Love All That You Are!

I was taught  to put family before myself even though the ones who were teaching me were definitely not doing what they preached. It took a health crisis to realize that I needed to start putting myself before others. If I didn’t I could die. I can tell you that definitely opened my eyes. I knew that I had to undo many of the things I was taught.

I had to let go of the things that I cannot do anymore, which is a difficult thing to do. I embraced all that I can do and love to do. I’m loving the person that I am becoming. I’m a work in progress.

I started to love myself and accept myself just the way I am. As Popeye would say “I yam what I yam and dats all what I yam.” These are definitely words to live by.

I want to tell you to live your life to the fullest, even if it’s sitting on the sofa binging Netflix or reading your favorite novel. That is living life to YOUR fullest. Say to yourself “I yam what I yam and dats all that I yam.” mean it and embrace it. . Most of all, love all of yourself just the way you are!!!

Thank You Rita. That Popeye fellow was smarter than we all thought ! I can understand your self awareness and fulfilling your personal needs first Especially when you are staring mortality in the face ( something Popeye never had to do) . Illness/disease is a force beyond our control: It is random, it keeps us vulnerable, it takes our authority away. But as you say, we can reach a comfort level by Living with what you have , and who you are. But More Importantly, what your presence in the world means first to you, and then your family, friends, and community. You are all the Wiser for this awareness. You have become the silver lining on the cloud that cast its’ shadow on you.
