Wondering–What If

I did not have the opportunity to go to college. I had to work to take care of my family. I do wonder what my life would have been like if I had.

My dream career was to be an archeologist. I love ancient things. I wanted to discover artifacts of mesoamerica. When I couldn’t work at a dig site anymore, I would work in a museum. I had it all planned out when I was young.

Reality got in the way and it never happened. I sometimes wonder what if.  Would I be living in Mexico? Would my main language be Spanish? What would my life be like?

When I think about it, I probably would be living in Mexico. Spanish would be my first language. I probably would be working at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Yes, I can see all of that happening. In that way, life would be sweet.

My life would truly be different. I would be financially stable. I know I would have been happy, at least I think I would be. I would know so many people. I would travel and see other ancient sites around the world. Yes, I do wonder about that.

Do you ever wonder what your life would be like if you would have done one thing differently? I believe most people do. To have lived your idea of a perfect life, even though nothing is truly perfect.

I don’t believe that you only wonder when things are not going well in your life. You can be very happy in your life and wonder what if. I know I do and it’s okay to wonder.

I wonder what my like would be like if I had become a teacher and never married my x husband. Would I not have traveled outside of Texas? Would my dad’s family and I had a better relationship? I do wonder about what changes I would have made to my future and if it would have ultimately ended up the same.
