Unwanted Belonging

There are times that you find yourself belonging to a group that you feared. A group that would change your life forever. All you see are the tears of suffering and death. You never see the smiles and the laughter of life. Belonging to this group only has one requirement, and that is cancer.

Breast cancer is why I belong. My old self has fallen and I’m growing into a woman who has seen the darkness of despair and the light of hope.  I walk the dark and lonely road as I confront my mental monsters. I walk in the light with the coming of a new day. I embrace the new me.

I touch, I see and I hear all that is around me. I have found strength within myself that I never knew existed. I also have acknowledged the weaknesses that exist to bring me down. I have much to deal with and in time it will get better.

Unwanted belonging can be a good thing. It all depends on how you want to experience it. I live moment by moment. A moment of sadness is just a moment. I know that happiness is waiting for me. I love all that is around me and the most important thing is that I love the new me.

Yes, unwanted belonging can be a good thing.

What a wonderful perspective, embracing the truth both within and without. So much happens that affects our lives badly. Sometimes, we need time to process, with the hope that we’ll understand more. Thank you for sharing the story of what you are going through.

I share your feelings and respect your strength to live a new day . It helps me know that there is a lighter side to the path of darkness and fear. I have just found out that I’m required to get further diagnostics on the same site that was removed 2 years ago. This is a rough road to travel so Its nice to have some companionship !
